Miguel met our PFCS Outreach Worker at the local church. As his story unfolded, we learned that he had recently arrived from Guatemala with dreams of making a living so that he could provide for his family. But Miguel was struggling simply with survival. His wife was not adjusting well to the transition, his brother was developing a serious alcohol problem and, most significantly, his child was very, very ill. Miguel didn't know where to go for help. PFCS helped him overcome the language barrier and initiated the needed connections to medical, education, chemical dependency and social services. Miguel and his family are now an integral part of our community, enriching us all with their culture.
